Phillip Andrew Monteith

Philip Andrew Monteith ("Andy"), 57, of Sylva, North Carolina, passed away on July 7, 2026.

Andy was preceded in death by his father, Morris Monteith; his mother, Patricia Monteith; and his sister, Karen Monteith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Gass Monteith; his brother, Russell Monteith; his children, Matthew Bradley (Anna), Amber Collier, and Trevor Bradley (Kassie); his grandchildren, Samantha Bradley, Kayleah Bradley, Jennifer Bradley, Quin Bradley, Maddy Collier, Aria Collier, Oliver Collier, and Sleyton Bradley; his nephew, Nathan Monteith (Jenny); his niece, Holly Griffin (Jedd); and his two great-nieces, MaKinley and Ellie Mae.

Andy was a simple man who found joy in camping and working, whether on the job or around his home. He was known for his strong work ethic and took great pride in everything he did.

Throughout his life, Andy worked for Gilkey's Lumber in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. He was also the former co-owner of Monteith Brothers Tractors and dedicated many years of service to T&S Hardwoods.

To honor Andy's final wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by the family.
