R B Adams

R B Adams, 80, of Cullowhee, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026.

He was born on June 26, 1946 to the late Elmar Adams. R B enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, and being outdoors with his hunting dogs. He was a member of Jackson County Coon Club, R B retired from Western Carolina University as a meat cutter for 30 years and then returned to work at Fairview Elementary for the past 20 years, where he won the Outstanding Employee of the Year award. He was a very simple man.

R B is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ann Adams; step-sons, Jay McDonald, Shane McDonald, and Keith Rhodes; several grandchildren; a sister, Marlow Lewis (Ray); niece, Melody Sutton (Tony); nephew, Brandon Lewis; great-niece, Alyssa Phelps; great-nephew, Keaston Broom (Kary); and his dog, Rascal.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with the Reverend Eddie Stillwell and Reverend Steve Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
