Ralph Hall Slaughter, born on January 24, 1940, in Braxton County, West Virginia, peacefully passed away at home on March 17, 2024, at the age of 84 in Cashiers, North Carolina.
Ralph was a dedicated salesman throughout his life, showcasing his passion for his work in one way or another until his final days. He was the president of the Marietta Lions Club in Marietta, GA for two terms. After moving to Cashiers, NC he became active in politics and became the Chairman of the GOP in Jackson County, NC for over a decade.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Richardson.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Shirley Slaughter; son, Jim Slaughter (Melissa) of Roberta, GA, daughter, Julie Bryant (Andy) of Acworth, GA; granddaughter, Katy Riddick (Jeffery Evans) great-granddaughter Jaycee Kate of Rydal, GA; two step granddaughters and 5 step great-grandchildren of Canton, GA; sister, Judy Slaughter of Lewisburg, WVA. Multiple brothers in law and sisters in law.
He was lovingly known as “Papa” to all his grandchildren and enjoyed his relationships with all his nieces and nephews. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
