Rena Ammons Wikle

Otto – Rena Eileen Ammons Wikle, 74, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at her residence.

Rena was a native of Jackson County and a daughter of the late Bryson Lewis and Rena Coggins Ammons.  She worked at Western Carolina University as a housekeeper and was a member of Tilly Creek Baptist Church.  Rena loved gardening and working in her flowers.

She is survived by her husband of five years, Robert Lee Wikle; a daughter, Ruth Sims Glenn; son, David Sims; step-daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Seago; step-son, Jason Wikle (Jordan); a brother, Clifford Ammons, one sister, Lillian Ammons Keeton; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Reverend Caleb Kelly and Reverend Larry Bryson officiating.  Interment will follow at Barker’s Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
