Richard Reed Heatherly

Richard Reed Heatherly, age 68, of Sylva, went to his heavenly home on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Reed was born on May 17, 1954, in Haywood County. He was a 1972 graduate of Pisgah High School. Reed was an avid farmer who loved animals and the outdoors. He married the love of his life, Sandra Wike, in 1975. They were blessed with one son, Shawn (and his wife Cara) and one daughter, Ashley. Reed's grandchildren were his joy and love for the last twenty years. Bailey, Hannah, and Cameron were truly his pride and joy.

Reed is also survived by his brother, Edward (and wife, Lynn) Heatherly; his sister, Dale Jones, and several nieces and nephews.

Reed was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Betty Heatherly; and a brother, David Heatherly.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 13, 2023, from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Appalachian Funeral Services Sylva NC.
