Robert "Bob" Thomas Berry

Robert “Bob” Thomas Berry, 86, passed away August 13, 2026, in Webster, North Carolina. Born November 17, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey, Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran who had a distinguished career in emergency management and education. He served 17 years with Nevada’s Division of Emergency Management and 15 years as an Associate Professor at Western Carolina University.

Bob was a devoted husband to his late wife, Frances, and a proud father and grandfather. Intelligent, warm, and caring, he loved model railroads and his Catholic faith.

He is survived by children Thomas, Deborah, and Steven, grandchildren Brandi, Patrick, Matthew, and Connor, and 3 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm Friday, August 21, 2026, at St Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Appalachian Funeral Services.
