Ronald, (Ron) better known as Ronnie Maurice Stewart, 69, of Asheville, North Carolina passed away at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center after an extended illness.
Originally a resident of Robbinsville North Carolina, Ronnie spent a lot of time traveling and moving around in his college days and in later years. He spent several years in Florida, North Carolina and before his illness he had settled in Kentucky.
Ronnie was a retired social worker with 20 years’ experience having spent most of that time working in Asheville North Carolina. He also worked at Wade Hampton Golf Club on the golf course and at High Hampton Resort as a security guard in the late 80s and early 90s in Cashiers North Carolina. He had a bachelor’s degree in social work from the university of the state of New York in 1985. He was also working on grad schoolwork from Western Carolina University in 1987 and lastly in 2020 he was studying at the seminary university of the south school of religion for enjoyment. An avid lover of education and knowledge, travel, food, trying new things, camping, reading, history debating, and just an all-around inquisitive and adventurous person, Ronnie lived how he wanted and did what made him happy.
He is preceded in death by his Father Maurice Stewart and his Brother Berry Stewart.
He is Survived by His Son Ben Stewart, His Daughter Cassie Stewart, His grandchildren, His Mother Frances Stewart, His Two Brothers Thomas (Gil) Stewart and Michael Stewart along with several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A small celebration of life will be held for Ronnie at Mark Watson Park in Sylva North Carolina Thursday June 12th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Four Seasons Hospice.
