Ruby Nell Cochran Parker age 90 passed from her earthly body to her heavenly home on July 9th at her home in Whittier. Born on March 17, 1935, Ruby lived a full and vibrant life. She lived her life being a Godly woman, who shared her faith with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and whomever else she came in contact with, through her words and her love of singing gospel songs. Ruby was the oldest charter member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of which she served faithfully for 49 years. She loved her church family dearly.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Louella Cochran of Bryson City; three sisters, Edna, Lois, and Irene; three infant babies and one son, Raymond Clifford Parker. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill Parker; daughter, Darlene Cagle; grandchildren, Chad Cagle (Michelle), Amanda Cagle Murajda (Roger), Tasheena Parker (Will), Mitchum Turpin; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Aleah, Hannah, and Shelby.
Special thanks to Memory Care, Jackson County Adult Day Care Program, Four Seasons Hospice, and special caregivers, Connie Watson and Kay Meindel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 12th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Ashe officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Lovedale Cemetery.
