Sabeeha Baddy, 69, of Cullowhee, North Carolina, found her peace through God on January 14th, 2017 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.
Sabeeha was born in Duhuk, Iraq to Tomas and Dena Alyas on May 16th, 1947. She went to school and graduated and was able to care for her brothers and sisters until they grew up. She baked bread and fed her family during difficult times after the gulf war in 1991. Sabeeha was a great mother and teacher to her children. She spent time and effort teaching them English because she knew it is a door to success in a country that does not speak it. As it turns out, that time and effort Sabeeha spent teaching her children English paid off greatly since the Iraq war in 2003. It helped create a new world for the family in a new country since 2007, also helped facilitate what otherwise could have been a difficult place to live in. Sabeeha endured a lot of medical issues for years but she was fearless and strong through her faith until her peaceful passing. Sabeeha enjoyed reading, cooking, and watching TV.
Funeral service will be held at St. Mary, mother of God Catholic church in Sylva, NC on Monday January 16th, 2017 at 2 PM with Reverend J. A. Voitus officiating. Visitation for family and close friends will start at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Sylva, NC.
Sabeeha is survived by her husband, Gorgees, step son Noel, son Haitham and his wife Xiaoju, daughter Maysoon and her husband Mushtaq, daughter Manal, son Ned, and two grandchildren Sullivan and Andre.
