Sara Elizabeth Thurston

Sara E. Thurston, age 91, of Sylva, NC, went to her heavenly home after a brief illness. She remained faithful to her Baptist Faith. Sara was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Lions Club. She enjoyed travel; sewing and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four sisters. She is survived by her husband, Claude Thurston; step daughter, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 2, 2019 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Charles Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC. Appalachian Funeral Services is handling arrangements for the family.
