Scott Hoyle

Scott Alan Hoyle 68 passed away on July 29, 2026. Scott was a hard-working mountain man who lived life on his own terms. A longtime resident of Sylva, Scott spent his entire working life in construction, primarily behind the controls of a bulldozer. He was a man who believed in working hard, staying busy, and taking care of the people he loved.

Above all else, Scott loved his family. He was a devoted father to his children, Jacob and Rainey Hoyle, and a proud grandfather to Garrett, Aubrey, and Kimber Lowe, and Jake Hoyle. His family was at the heart of his life, and the memories he made with them will be cherished forever

If Scott wasn't working, chances were good he was still doing something. It seemed there was always wood to cut, grass to mow, or something around the house that needed his attention, He loved the simple, hardworking life of the mountains and was happiest staying busy.

Scott had plenty of passions and opinions, too. He collected chainsaws and guns, and if there was ever a debate between Ford and Chevy, Scott was choosing Ford-without much room for argument. He also had a particular appreciation for snacks, especially Little Debbie cakes. He somehow always knew when a new snack cake had hit the shelves.

Scott was a true mountain man-tough, hardworking, independent, and sometimes probably a little stubborn, but underneath it all was a man who loved his family deeply and found joy in the simple things that made life his own.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Grayson. He is survived by his father, Dan Hoyle, his children, Jacob and Rainey, his grandchildren, Garrett, Aubrey, Kimber, and Jake and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

His hands may no longer be on the controls of a bulldozer, his chainsaws may finally be quiet, and the grass may have to fend for itself-but the life he built, the people he loved, and the memories he left behind will remain.

Rest easy, Dad. You worked hard enough.
