Shannon Ray Wike, 54, of Sylva, NC, passed away on March 16, 2024, in Waynesville, NC. Shannon was born  on January 27, 1970, in Sylva, NC. Shannon was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting, and had a talent for bringing laughter to those around him. He loved to pull pranks, which entertained him and others to no end. Shannon had a beautiful voice that he only shared with others late in life. He made friends with everyone that he met; people could not help but like Shannon because he was so entertaining, and so joyful. Shannon had a big heart and beautiful smile.  

 

Shannon dedicated many years of his life to his career. He worked at Jackson Paper in Sylva and later at Evergreen Packaging in Canton, where he made lasting contributions and touched the lives of many coworkers.

 

He is survived by his daughter Megan Yarber, son-in-law Cody Yarber, grandson Dallas Yarber, father Ray Wike, mother Pat Wike, sister Sherri Demos, niece Rayanne Demos, and life partner and best friend, Keisha Bridges. Shannon is also survived by his cherished aunts and uncles including, Uncle Dean and Aunt Brenda Wike, Uncle Donnie and Aunt Lois Stiles, Aunt Sandra Heatherly, Uncle Boogie and Aunt Gladys Webb, Uncle Dave and Aunt June Prince, Aunt Marsha, and Aunt Janet McMahon. Lastly, Shannon is also survived by many cherished cousins and friends. Shannon was preceded in death by his grandparents Haze and Lonella Wike, Uncle Wayne Wike, Aunt Bobbie Wike, Aunt Irene Wike, and Uncle Reed Heatherly, as well as his grandparents, Roger and Kathleen Davis, and Uncle Duane McMahon.

 

Shannon's memory will be forever treasured by those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of laughter and love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He is no longer in pain and is living with his Lord and Savior.

 

The family would like to thank all for the love and support given by family, friends, Jeff Powell and the Tuckasegee Wesleyan Church. The family will be holding private services at a later date.
