Stanford "Stan" Schmidt

Stanford "Stan" Schmidt, 69, completed the mission God had set before him, and peacefully passed away on March 7, 2024.

Stan loved God, his wife, his family, extended family and pickleball.  Growing up in Kansas he excelled in numerous sports, his favorite being tennis and basketball.  But once he discovered pickleball, that sport dominated his life. Stan also loved biking, hiking, the beach, and just being outdoors, looking out over the mountains and watching the sunset.  He loved to interact with people and loved talking with them, giving encouraging words.

As an accountant in the manufacturing world, he loved getting out of the office and down on the manufacturing floor, connecting with people.  He always had an encouraging word, and was able to find something positive in every situation.

Survivors include his wife Ruth; son Jake (Jessie Newman) Schmidt, daughters Stephanie (Billy) West and Madeline (Joe) Rosen; sister Mary (Merlin) Prehiem, brother Jim (Barbara) Schmidt; and grandsons, B West and JJ Rosen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan's Purse at samaritanspurse.org, or to a charity of your choice.

A celebration of Stan's life is planned for 2:00pm on March 23 at the home of Ruth Schmidt, 117 Mirrowen Hollow, Sylva, NC. Casual attire and footwear is recommended.
