Stella Sue Sutton

S. Sue Sutton, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Lucious Sutton and Oma Sutton. She was the oldest living of the Joe and Violet Sutton generation, who were two of the founders of Ochre Hill Church and oldest of Columbus and Artie Bryson generation. She attended Sylva High School, Haywood Community College and Tri-Co College. Sue worked several years as a realtor before retiring.

Surviving are five children-Donny Howell and Charles Howell of Waynesville, Pamela Childers and Sherry Argo of Candler, Lisa Lynn (Derek) of Asheville. Ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, two step grandsons, one step great-grandson, one step great-granddaughter, one step great-great granddaughter. One niece Sandra Burns (Bob) of Sylva.

Sue was a member of Good News Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva, NC at 2:00pm with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Stella Sue Sutton Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00pm.
