Stephen Dwight Barron

Whittier - Stephen Dwight Barron, 40, was promoted to Glory on March 30, 2024.

Stephen was born on February 24, 1984, in Orlando, Florida to Dwight & Beth Barron.  Stephen lived with his parents in North Carolina and thoroughly enjoyed living in the beautiful Smoky Mountains after moving from Florida in 2016.  He was a member of Redeemer Church PCA in Sylva, NC and enjoyed going to church to deepen his relationship with God.  Stephen believed i the power of prayer, trusted, and loved  God and became a believer at a young age.  Survived by parents, Dwight & Beth Barron; siblings, Nicholas Barron, Caroline Morris (Joe Morris) & Andrew Barron.

During his youth, Stephen enjoyed the outdoors and Boy Scouts where he attained the rank of Life Scout and was awarded Robin Hood of the week for his top score in archery at Camp Daniel Boone.  Stephen graduated from Lake Brantley High School in 2003, notably winning a dance competition for his hilarious and playful moves.  He was one of the most passionate Florida State fans around and loved to cheer on his Noles while chanting away!  During Stephen's high school years and beyond, he worked at Albertson's and Publix for a total of 13 years where he shared his joyous attitude, smile, and generous spirit with the local community.  Stephen developed a love for bowling and joined the bowling team during his high school years.  Stephen had a passion in life for listening to powerful heart-felt music and laughing at his favorite comedy movies.  He always enjoyed going out to eat for a tasty meal and found joy in being with family and friends.  Stephen loved to laugh and enjoyed the simple things in life, while also finding peace and contentment in his circumstances.  He had a happy, loving temperament that found joy in being generous towards others.  He was an inspiration to his family, friends, and many who knew him and loved others well.  Stephen will be remembered most for his kind-hearted, loving, thoughtful, and compassionate ways and his light that shine on others through his sweet, joyful spirit.  He will also be remembered for his warm smile and laughter, but mostly for his faith, courage, perseverance and for being a true spiritual warrior who learned to live above his circumstances, always able to rise into the light of joy despite any sufferings he may have endured.  Stephen will be deeply missed and will always be in our hearts and mind.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Redeemer Church, PCA, 86 Storybook Lane in Sylva with Pastor Steven Hansen officiating.  Burial will follow at Thomas Memorial Park.
