Thomas W. Jones

Thomas William Jones passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2024, surrounded by family.

He was born in Sylva on August 29, 1943, to Claude Monteith Jones and Coral Lee Picklesimer Jones.  Tom was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Wake Forest University School of Law and was active in the Sylva community his entire life. He enjoyed making others laugh and cheering for the San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara Clements Jones; his siblings, Claude Jones (Patricia), Betty Blanton, and Gladys Jones; his seven children/stepchildren, Theresa Holland (Lake), Brenda Deitz (Kevin), Bobby Thomas (Sophia), Tammie Kelley (Jeff), Jeff Jones (Lorri), Duane Jones, and Tim Jones (Lori); along with 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson on the way.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC.
