Virginia "Ginny" Brown Smith

Ginny started her new journey to life in Heaven on July 1, 2023, at 66 years old.  In spending her last moments here on Earth, she was surrounded by the comfort of loved ones.

Ginny was preceded in death by her father, Hobart Brown; mother, Margaret Troxell Brown, and sister, Gwendell Burrell.

She is survived by her children, Chris Howell, Jeremy Howell (Kendra), Miranda Griffis (Michael); siblings, Barbara Clark (Frank), Deborah Henry (Sonny), David Brown (Tammy); and her little, blind pup, Vu.

She was born in Asheville NC on December 11.  She worked many different jobs ranging from UPS driver to waitressing at Ryan’s on Patton Ave.  Ginny was an avid fan of flea markets and thrifting.  Ginny was also a lover of dogs and horses.  She will always be remembered for her strong will and always giving a reason to smile just by simply thinking of her.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00PM on Saturday, June 15, 2023, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC.  A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00PM.  All who loved Ginny are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, Ginny asked for donations to be made to: Advocate for Animals, Noah's Ark Advocates for Animals. 1239 Old Murphy Road, Franklin, NC, 28734.  They provide care for the loved pets of low-income people.
