Walter Wade Wilson Jr.

Walter Wade Wilson Jr, 68, of Dillsboro, passed away peacefully at home early Saturday morning May 27, 2023 after a period of declining health.
A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Walter Wade Sr. and Rebecca Cannon Wilson. 
Walter was a member of Sylva First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Sylva-Webster High School in 1974 and then attended Southwestern Community College. He was the former owner of Western Auto in downtown Sylva. He went on to retire from the NCDOT after working for 25 years. Walter was very active in his community and also served on the Board of Parris Cemetery in Sylva. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with Sherry. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed spending time with his buddies. 
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Sherry Burns Wilson formerly of Jacksonville, Fla and now resides in Dillsboro
Daughter- Gretchen Wilson Breese of Johnson City, TN
2 Step Sons; Thomas Edwin Stephens III of Sylva
                       James Travis ( Amanda) Stephens of Oak Creek, Colorado
5 Grandchildren; Karleigh Mackenzie Breese, Hadley Dawn Stephens, Jackson Cooper Stephens, Lydia Ann Stephens and Ensley June Stephens
Sister- Susan (Buddy) Wilson Owen of Dillsboro
He is also survived by many loving cousins and friends

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday June 10, 2023 at Sylva First United Methodist Church. 
There will a gathering of friends immediately following the Service at the Church
