Wilford "Buck" Stewart

September 21, 1948- April 30, 2024

Wilford “Buck” Stewart, 75, went home to be with his Lord on April 30, 2024.
Buck was the son of the late Harold and Jessie Hooper of Tuckasegee. 
He was a beloved member of the Tuckasegee community and of Grace Bible Church in Whittier,
NC. He loved the Lord, the church, God’s Word, and his family. 

Buck was in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from his
service to our country, he married Gaye Bryson of Cashiers. Buck began as a cabbage
farmer, and soon started farming Christmas trees. He stayed in the farming business for
over 30 years. Buck was passionate about hard work, gardening, and providing for his
family. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his friends. Best of all, he loved to
spend time with all his grandchildren.

Buck is survived by his wife of over 50 years; Gaye, his 3 sons; Brent (Amanda), Grant,
Matt (Alicia), his 6 grandchildren; Brice, Ivy, Trent, Hayley, Emma, Charlie, and 1 sister;
Gwen Hooper of Sylva.

Buck will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Pa, and friend.

A memorial service will be held at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC on Friday,
May 3, 2024 at 11:00am with his son, Pastor Brent Stewart, officiating. Graveside services for family
will be private.
