William "Joe" Frizzell

William “Joe” Frizzell, 78 of Sylva, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025. He was born on March 17, 1947, to the late William and Ruby White Frizzell.

Joe enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by many.

Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mable Frizzell; daughter, Beverly Kimsey; sisters, Lucille Franklin (Dewey), Juanita Edwards; grandchildren, Leticia Cruz, Whitney Hornbuckle (Tiquelle Hampton), Julia Calangan, Jayme Calangan(Jeremy Swayney); great grandchildren, Kailyana, Lakai, Sebastian, Lakota, Dominic, Amelia, Zobias, Vailey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by two brothers, Harrison Frizzell and Benny Frizzell.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Rev. Dewey Franklin and Rev. Eddie Stillwell will be officiating. Burial will follow at Stillwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
