William Monroe Lindsey

William Monroe Lindsey, Sr., 86, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025. He was born November 24, 1938 in Wilson County. William retired from the NCDOT after 30 years of Service. He loved spending time with his family, traveling to the mountains, fishing and “old cars”. William was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather “Pa”. He was a member of Barnes Hill Church where he served as a Choir Director, cooked for Vacation Bible School, served as Deacon and was on the Deacon Board, many years until his health would not allow him. He was known as “Homer” to his son Bill and daughter-in-law Lisa. William was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest Lindsey and Appie Brooks Lindsey; first love, Beulah Mae Lindsey, whom he shared 57 years of marriage and his second love, Julia Farmer Lindsey, 9 years of marriage; two brothers, Aster “Blossom” Lindsey and Rudolph Lindsey.

He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Susie Coggins (Don), Bill Lindsey (Lisa), Aubrey Farmer (Kathy) and Mike Farmer (Cathy); sister, Alberta Cobb; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren; his bonus children, by his second marriage, Bonnie Farmer Winstead (Todd), Tracy Farmer Shearin (Keith) and their children and family that called “Pa” Lindsey; many cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 1:00-2:00 pm, Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Barnes Hill Church with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robert Langley, Rev. Dick Singleton and Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. A second memorial service will be held at a later date in Sylva NC.

The family would like to say Thank You to all friends and extended family and the staff of Wilson Memorial, Lona Wells and staff of Chick-fil-A for their kindness, friends that have supported the family with food, phone calls, and most of all love.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Barnes Hill Church 1750 Barnes Hill Church Rd. Nashville, NC 27856 or charity of one’s choice.
