Vaughn Stevens

William Vaughn Stevens, 42, of the Caney Fork Community, entered the gates of Heaven in the early morning hours of Friday, October 2, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on March 28, 1984, to Jim and Sandra Mull Stevens.

To have known Vaughn was to love him. He was a jokester and loved to make you laugh. He loved his family fiercely; he loved to hunt, fish, run and train Walker dogs, farm the land, and explore all up and down Caney Fork.

He was greeted in Heaven by his Papaw Dee Mull, Nanny Janet and Papaw Herbert Stevens, Uncle Bill Stevens, and his wife’s Grandparents, who loved him as their own, Joe and Betty Sutton; special neighbors who were more like Uncles, Martin and Candler Cook, and, as Vaughn would say, the BEST dang pack of Bear dogs, including his beloved Mtn. Fiest, Zoe Bell.

Left missing him and cherishing his memory are the love of his life, his wife of 21 years, Kristin Cogdill Stevens, his 2 greatest blessings, William Gage and Ryleigh Makena Stevens. His Mother, Sandra, of Caney Fork,and Father, Jim, of Waynesville; Brother James and Niece Lily Ann; Nanny, Mary Evelyn Mull; Parents-in-law, Mick and Teresa Dillard; Sister-in-law Trista Seagraves; Nephews Kooper and Spencer McCoy, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, hunting buddies, and friends. Also missing him are his loyal Furbabies: Turbo, Belle, Rosie, Ralphie, Scrappy, Frosty, and the pack of yard dogs.

Our hearts are broken, and we are devastated by the unexpected passing of Vaughn. However, we take comfort in knowing that all the struggles andhardships that his body and mind endured in this life, especially the past 5 months, are over. He is whole, his mind is at ease, and he’s pain-free.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Balsam Grove Cemetery on Caney Fork. Afterwards, family and friends are invited to share a meal and fellowship at the Caney Fork Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Appalachian Funeral Home to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
