William Wilkey

William Wilkey, 89, of Dillsboro NC, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday January 8, 2022. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Myrtle (Elders) Wilkey.

William was a member of Dicks Creek Baptist Church. He had a passion and talent for playing the guitar, mandolin, bass, and fiddle. He enjoyed bluegrass, gospel groups, and old country music. He was an avid camper and fox hunter.

He is survived by his children, Debbie (Bill) Stepp, Teresa (Lowell) Rhoads, Gary Wilkey; sister, Annie Mae Brown; four grandchildren, Misty (Kevin) Cope, Melissa (Steve) Pressley, Mica Wilkey, Marissa Early; four great grandchildren, Madison (Kevin) Vernon, ,Miranda Cope, Maddox and Mayson Early; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Irene; and brother-in-law, Howard Brown.

A private Funeral Service for the family will be held Tuesday January 11, 2022.
